The Rev. Patrick Maitrejean will serve as summer supply priest at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Nogales from mid-July until the end of August while the Rev. M. Lucie Thomas, Rector, is on sabbatical for six weeks.

Rev. Maitrejean did undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona. He received a bachelor's degree in Latin American Studies, joined the Peace Corps and was assigned to Colombia. He went to seminary at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Caribbean in Puerto Rico, and was ordained in 1970.
Roots in Nogales
Rev. Maitrejean was born in Nogales. He and his sister, Sigrid, were raised in various mining camps and cities in Mexico. He spent most of his high school years in Lima, Peru. His family has deep roots in Nogales, His great-grandparents settled in Nogales in the 1880s. With the upcoming baptism of his grandson, Aiden, six generations of his family will have been connected to St. Andrew's. Rev. Maitrejean and his wife Barbara have retired to Nogales to be closer to family.
Work on book
During her sabbatical Rev. Lucie will work on a book about the first Native American ordained an Episcopal priest in the United States, the Rev. John Johnson Enmegahbowh, Ojibwe, ordained in Minnesota in 1867. Enmegahbowh means "The One Who Stands Before His People."
St. Andrew's holds Sunday services at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m, at 969 W. Country Club Drive in Nogales. A coffee hour follows the 10 a.m. service.
