What Else Now?

By Art Godinez
Published Tuesday, May 26, 2009 10:08 AM MDT

What Else Now? you may ask your self why did I pick this title to this letter of submisssion to you the Editor? Well it is getting to the point that what else is going to happen or close in this peacefull town! I get your paper and I first read that the Salvation Army Store is closing down! Second Alex Baldillo is asking for help for the county to buy localy from him,so that he can stay afloat and keep out of his tire buisnesses open! Well is there help on the way? You can ask and you wil you get an answer? That remainds to be seen! This town is going into the months like if you were in a diet, and you lost the weight ! You can slide it down to the next hole in the belt ! Well in the case of all the merchants in the is town they can either cut the staff's hours or that staff it's self.Or just completely close down! We don't see either the Mayor or his council persons doing anything to help! All you see is city putting extra parking meters (That We Don't Need!) to pull in more funds into city.Is this going to help any? No! I guess not if there is no customers to put money in them or stores that remain open due to this diffcult times.Look guy's this crunch time and also the two minute warning for the good of this town that we love so much and would love  to stay in and live.Stop and help this town by any means or resources it takes for the merchants to stay open.Do away with the parking meters during this next months so that the customers that we have can shop with out worring about getting a ticket if they didn't put a quarter in the meter.Look we have lost Domino's Pizza,Hometown Buffet,Shakey's Pizza,Los Primos Resturant, and soon Big Lots and the list will keep growing if nothing is done right away! So let's help thy neighbor before we lose everything! WE also stand a chance of losing our Nogales International News  Paper like Tucson lost it's Citizen!

" Mr Godinez said it all. Yes, Nogales is on the fast track to becoming a ghost town. Where are our city's leaders? Where are they when we need them? It is a very depressing drive through our city streets to see all the closed businesses. Yet at the same time we see all the little stands selling hotdogs, tacos, etc., which is good , but our leaders should see that as a trend. A trend that the citizens of our city are doing whatever they can to make ends meet, and that is not good! The businesses need help, no more major purchases by our city government outside of our city and county, keep it local, keep it here. Help us so we can help ourselves............. "
