100 U.S. flags retired

American Legion Ridge Igo Post 23 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2066, thank all of our patriotic contributors who turned in unserviceable American flags, for our Retirement Ceremony, during Flag Day 2009.

Our ceremony, on Sunday, June 14, was a great success. Retired were 100 American flags, besides other miscellaneous flags, and banners.

We are now planning our next retirement ceremony for next year, which we hope will be even better. Some members have proposed a night bon-fire ceremony, on Flag Day, 2010.

If you have any old unserviceable American flags, please drop them off at the VFW hall at 653 N. Grand Ave., during regular business hours, Wednesday through Sunday.
