Shawn McCollough, a 'Macho'?

By Concerned Parent Too

Shawn McCollough should move to a Latin American country!

Why do I write this? Because he always exhibits a “Macho” attitude (at least at or against his own teachers and staff). I'll be more clear:

Let's define 'Macho' or 'Machismo': The public display of characteristically (and usually exaggerated) masculine behavior. - Online Dictionary of the Social Sciences

Machismo is prominently exhibited or excessive masculinity. As an attitude, machismo ranges from a personal sense of virility to a more extreme male chauvinism. In many cultures, (Latin American) machismo is acceptable and even expected. - Wikipedia

McCollough's usual demeanor and attitude (at teachers and staff) is that of a dominant, intimidating, exaggerated male -or macho-.

PEN – Professional Educators of Nogales - recently filed a grievance against McCollough. (See http://www.nogalesinternational.com/articles/2009/05/01/news/doc49fb1b02a9577692555049.txt ).

[A “heated discussion” ensued and McCollough “continued to direct aggressive verbal confrontations toward several other individual team members,” according to the grievance.] - Denise Holley, Nogales International.

Shawn also frequently demands for things to be done, raising his voice, not caring if the needed resources exist or if the normal -and legal- procedures would be followed. He makes visceral decisions that later backfire at him: like being an hour and 45 minutes late to a meeting, standing up and yelling at at the representatives of a negotiating teacher committee.

As 'Disgusted Parent' recently well wrote in the comments section of NogalesInternational.com :

“I would hope that our rage would be considered in the heart of NUSD. I agree with those of you who stated that Shawn intimidates those committed teachers and faculty from Nogales. Three more years of fear for them. So is this right (?) Should NUSD staff be fearful of their leaders? Should we seek someone who is respected, not feared?

As stated before: McCollough should move to a Latin American country! He would have to eliminate his last name and use his mother's maiden name, Arevalo, to “fit in”, although he already has the 'Macho' attitude.
