Time to take a relaxing ride and enjoy your life

By JB Miller

Feel as if life is passing you by too quickly these days? Well, it may be time to try it at a more civilized pace in the way of an old-fashioned carriage ride.

Longtime Patagonia resident Jeanette Swyers reposes in a nine-passenger vis-à-vis belonging to Yesteryear Carriage Co. Beginning this Labor Day weekend owner-driver Lainey Wilcox and her 9-year-old Percheron “Jake” will offer rides to locals and visitors around the Patagonia area.

Starting this Labor Day weekend, local entrepreneur Lainey Wilcox and her 9-year-old Percheron draft horse “Jake” will offer open-top limo excursions amid the natural and historic surroundings of Patagonia.

“I’m hoping people coming into town on vacation will be looking for something a little different to do,” said Wilcox. “The rides are reasonably priced and something the whole family can enjoy.”

Leisurely trip

Wilcox said the leisurely 4 mph trips in the opulent nine-passenger “vis-à-vis” would vary in length depending on what customers are looking for - whether it’s that rare bird along Blue Haven Road or a romantic sunset beneath Red Mountain. Carriage rides are also ideal for weddings, birthdays, quinceañeras, and picnics, she said.

“We will also be offering rides for guests staying at local B&Bs who might want to dine at a restaurant in town,” said Wilcox, who added that she is planning similar outings around the Sonoita-Elgin area as well as Nogales.

For more information including trip prices, contact Wilcox at (520) 604-0208 or e-mail her at yesteryearcarriageco@msn.com.
