I may be ignorant, too innocent or too naive, but I had never seen such favoritism as the one that goes on in NUSD with a few, select employees. There is one in particular whose job description calls him a 'Warehouse Driver', but his real duties are much different. His day consists of sitting around the district's warehouse waiting for the phone call of the Superintendent or the Assistant Superintendent. He promptly responds to their calls which usually and very frequently consist of running personal errands and personal favors, waisting the resources of the School District and ultimately of the community's tax payers: district car, gas and employee time. His duties have had to be divided among 2 other employees that must perform their own in addition to the driver's duties. I guess taking the Superintendent out at night or taking him on vacation really pays off! It would at least get me the status of 'favorite' employee.

I want his job! I am waiting for the period in the school year when transfers can be requested and anxiously waiting for the driver to get a promotion to ask for his position. Anyone else want to work in a school district where the Super and his Assistant have their own, personal butler?

Any openings, McCollough and Zimmerman?

I don't hear solutions, proposals, recommendations for more parent involvement etc.
I also don't hear or see any comment having to do with the District's successes in the past year, or years.
From the Teachers and Aides, to the clerical and custodial staffs, all the way to the Central office and the superintedent, the first focus should be what is happening in our academic achievment first, NOT POLITICS!!
There are schools being recognized, there are programs that are being praised around the state, and there were gains in the AIMS test results in basically all categories among all schools.
The rise of Lincoln, Welty and Carpenter is not an accident, but proof that something positive is going on.
Instead of attack and attack, why don't parents visit the schools, talk to their principals and ask what they can do to help bring more change about.
Presently, the schools seem to have been sailing the dangerous waters of State budget cuts in a sensible and caring way, making sure no one is left without a job. I think this is a very important fact.
Nogales should be proud of its schools, be more supportive and more importanlty, stop with the personal attacks, that is not what our students need to see. "
