Cochise College has EMT students hard at work

By Gerry Castro

Nogales Cochise College EMT students are learning the value of saving lives through the EMT program implemented this fall semester. The Emergency Medical Technician course prepares students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform life-saving skills that include performing CPR with the use of an AED, using Airway adjuncts, treating and stabilizing a patient with significant trauma and spinal injuries including splinting fractures.

The students will have basic knowledge of signs and symptoms of illness and injury. Lifeline-3 also provided Helicopter safety training with Julie Higuera, R.N. The curriculum meets the ADHS guidelines and is approved by the state of Arizona and the National Registry of EMTs.
