It looks as though Kevin McKay will keep his seat on the Patagonia Town Council following a special recall election held on Nov. 3. Of the ballots cast, 117 went to McKay. Juliette Pendleton, who ran against the incumbent, received 70 votes. Five votes were rejected.

McKay extended his gratitude to those who voted for him. “I find it reassuring that everyone is not persuaded by hearsay and false accusations.”
McKay was referring to allegations made by his opponent that he had not kept his promises and had violated the trust of Patagonia citizens by not reflecting their views. He was also accused of not conducting town matters in a timely and prudent fashion.
No elaboration
“The fact that my opponent cannot elaborate on the particulars of why I am being singled out from the council as a whole just shows me that their intention was only to get my council seat -,” said McKay, who chose not to partake in a debate proposed by the opposition prior to the recall. “I’m glad it’s over, and it will be good to resume to the town’s normal business and start focusing our energy on more positive projects.”
Pendleton, who also thanked her supporters, said she wanted to congratulate Kevin McKay on his win. “It’s my hope that whatever challenges this town faces “ that he can effectively handle them.”
