Nogales Recognition

By Javier Barajas

While attending a workshop in Phoenix, I received word that Nogales High School's AIMS Intervention and Dropout Prevention Program was being recognized by the Arizona Department of Education as an "Exemplary Program" and nominated for a National award along with seven other districts, by the National Drop Out Prevention Center. People in the workshop, from different agencies, school districts and Universities gave Nogales a nice ovation.

Congratulations to Kathy Scott, program director, and all the caring personnel who work with our students  and give them support until they are able to achieve and move on to higher education or begin their careers after their graduation from high school. You all know who you are, and so do the students and their parents.

Good luck to Nogales High School, as this program moves on for a possible national recognition, which is richly deserved.
