NHS duo finishes in middle of pack One started a little shaky and came back strong. The other started strong on day one and faltered a bit on day two. Regardless, Nogales High’s Adan Lopez and Gilberto Guayante both finished neck and neck Tuesday after the second day of the 4A-I state golf tournament at the par 72 Randolph North Golf Course in Tucson. Representing the Kino Region, Lopez finished 43rd with a 170 (89 on day one, 81 on day two) in a field off 80, while Guayante finished 44th with a 171 (83,88). The Sonoran Region’s Bill Flower, from Catalina Foothills, topped all 4A-I duffers with a 144 (70,74). His team won the tourney with a 589. For Nogales, which didn’t compete as a team, it was a better showing than last season when Adriel Arana and JJ Olmos competed individually. Arana finished 47th of 72 golfers with a total of 172 for the two-day competition. Three golfers, including Olmos, did not finish the second day’s competition. Olmos shot a 104 on day one last year. |
