Customs and Border Protection officers at Nogales ports of entry have reflected significant results for the first two months of fiscal year 2009. CBP officers have seized money and narcotics and arrested hundreds for immigration violations and outstanding warrants.

During October, CBP officers seized more than 2,306 pounds of narcotics with an estimated street value of more than $5 million. The narcotics included marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamines. Also, CBP officers seized about $351,873 in undeclared currency leaving the country. CBP officers also recovered 11 stolen vehicles being illegally exported into Mexico.Â
Early into November, CBP officer’s seized more than 1,001 pound of illegal narcotics. Officers arrested 15 persons with outstanding warrants and processed more than 55 immigration cases on violators illegally present in the United States. Officers also recovered four stolen vehicles, seized $42,348 in undeclared currency, and confiscated one weapon.Â
Those arrested in connection with the failed narcotics smuggling attempts and undeclared currency seizures were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.
