I am appalled at the opinions recently printed in regards to the Dec. 4 NI article: “Mayor defends $324 paid for movie tickets.” To mislead the community and imply that I did something wrong or to make out the impression of being caught red-handed without providing any proven facts is straight out ridiculous and unprofessional. Calling the movie tickets “bogus” shows the lack of research and commitment to provide an accurate and balanced story. Two city employees were present when Oasis Town Cinema Manager first said she would donate the tickets for the Halloween event and then asked us to go pick them up, in which a former assistant of mine did. The article being referred to fails to put in statements from either employee but manages to paint a one-sided story, no surprise there. Oasis Town Cinema invoiced the City of Nogales (Invoice #41) for 50 movie tickets that apparently, according to their Manager, were never given out. I am asking myself the same question: Why deny giving 50 movie tickets to the City of Nogales and then invoice them for the amount of $324.50? (Copies available)
