A recent guest opinion (Dec. 15, NI) by John Hays of Rio Rico asked the question, "Climate change: Is it real or a major scientific hoax?"

But there is a major scientific hoax at work. Anthropogenic Global Warming, aka man-caused global warming is a hoax. In the face of evidence arising out of the "hacked" e-mails from the CRU of the University of East Anglia there can be no question that it is a hoax. No matter how the lefty media tries to spin the issue, the e-mails say what they say and no one has denied that they are valid.
And what they say in essence is that the climate "scientists" at the University of East Anglia lied, and probably at least one "scientist" in the U.S., Dr. Michael Mann of Penn State, has joined them.
I disagree with Hays that the act that revealed the incriminating e-mails was itself a criminal act. I see it as a case of whistle-blowing. The "hacker(s)" certainly must have
been aware of the e-mails' content and were smart enough to know that the hoax being perpetrated would cost taxpayers billions of dollars, would increase government control
over personal lives, and bring about a massive and unnecessary downgrade in the quality of life for most people in the world.
I commend the "hacker(s),” if that's what they were, for performing this great service.

There is no doubt that they may have performed a major public service. Though the so called "Democrats" (I am one and will disavow any affiliation to those calling themselves that in Congress) are trying to make this more about the hackers than the scandle. Mr. Hays has made some good points about climate change in the past, especially that the climate is always changing. Which I believe you agree with. It is too bad many of those in power believe they truely know better than the people they are elected to represent. They are so gungho to do what is best for us that they do not want to listen to logic and real science.
The EPA is set to limit green house gases such as Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Oxygen and even Water Vapor. So what does that mean? Will they make politicians by carbon credits for their campaign speaches? Will they outlaw the eating of foods that give people gas? I know some environmentalists are calling for the banning of cattle. Will they outlaw evaporative coolers? What about plants? Trees especially give off huge amounts of Oxygen and Water Vapor during the days, and Carbon Dioxide at night. Will the EPA regulate those? Are we seeing only the beginning of the madness and stupidity or the end? I fear it is the beginning. "
