Watercolor painter Sherry Tolman will be the featured artist at the 51st Annual Tubac Festival of the Arts, Feb. 10-14. Tolman’s painting titled “The Leap” was the winning entry in this year’s Tubac Festival poster competition and will be featured on the commemorative festival poster.

Tolman’s watercolors exhibit crisp lines, vivid colors and simplicity of style. “I work with watercolors because they allow me to paint the subject matter as surreal. Whether animal, floral or scenery, the structure is familiar but the colors are left to the discretion of the artistic imagination,” she said.

Tolman, originally from Washington, is a full-time artist who travels around the country and participates in art shows year-round. Posters will be available at the Tubac Historical Society booth on Tubac Road. Tolman will sign posters during the event.

The festival will have 175 juried guest artists from around the country. Artist booths will line the village streets. Free horse-drawn trolleys, a food court, and art demonstrations will be available.
