Tubac’s first commercial development on the west side of Interstate 19 is scheduled to be considered at the Wednesday, Feb. 10, meeting of the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors.

The property is owned by Tubac Retirement Partners LLC. Michael Horowitz, who also owns the La Entrada shopping center in Tubac, is one of the owners and is the managing partner, said Leo Miller, the project manager.
There has been no action on the property during the past two years. On Dec. 27, 2007, the county’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted 6-0 to recommend approval of the tentative plat to the supervisors. But the request didn’t come before the supervisors until now.
Miller said the plan is to create seven commercial lots along with streets and underground utilities.
The lots will be sold to others who will construct buildings for retail and commercial businesses. Miller said the owners may build a small project, too.
If approval for the final plat is received, Miller said work might begin on grading some time this summer.
The supervisors will hold a public hearing at or after 10 a.m. before voting on the request and anyone interested may speak. The Board of Supervisors meeting room is at 2150 N. Congress Dr. in Nogales.
