Girls Scouts of Southern Arizona-Santa Cruz County received a celebrity welcome at the 2012 edition of their annual father-daughter dance.
As they arrived to the March 31 event at the Knights of Columbus hall in Nogales, the Girl Scouts and dads walked along a red carpet before pausing for a photo to capture the memory.
Then, when they walked into the hall, each girl encountered her own Hollywood star. “Throughout the night the girls and fathers enjoyed spending quality time with each other,” organizers said. “Their dancing energy was charged with a delicious dinner and dessert.”
There was a charity component as well. The Girl Scouts donated hygiene items such as combs, hairbrushes, shampoos and conditioners to the Our House/Nuestra Casa Domestic Crisis Shelter.
“We would like to thank everyone who made this event such a success,” a spokeswoman said. “Special thanks to
Yadira Sanchez for taking the lead on this event; Girl Scout staff and volunteers; Mr. and Mrs. Omar Cabrera for donating cakes; Walmart, Garrett’s, Kmart, and Claudia Mendoza for donating the sodas; Nogales High School FBLA Club for being great hosts.”
