The Tombstone Vigilettes will model vintage clothing from the boom era of the legendary town during a fashion show from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17 at Hilltop Gallery in Nogales.
According to the gallery, the group was formed 50 years ago to preserve the fashion history of Tombstone. They show ball gowns, work clothes and fashionable suits and accessories in the authentic style of the late 1800s.
While some garments are more than 100 years old, others are made by members of the group. In striving for authenticity, “We only use buttons and hook-and-eye fasteners, never zippers," said Bonnie Darlington, the “high vigilette,” or president, of the group.
Also this weekend, Hilltop Gallery hosts the annual art show and sale by the Z-Club, the high school arm of the charitable organization Zonta Club. The show opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday and will run through Sunday afternoon.
Hilltop Gallery is at 730 Hilltop Drive. For more information, call (520) 287-5515.
