Two Border Patrol agents were injured last Thursday during an air and ground pursuit of drug smugglers that ended with a sports car crashing into a boulder near the clubhouse at the Kino Springs golf course.

According to a Border Patrol spokesman, agents and officers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Air and Marine department responded to “a border incursion involving a vehicle attempting to smuggle narcotics near Nogales.”

The driver attempted to flee, but the vehicle “was subsequently stopped north of the international boundary fence,” presumably when it hit the boulder.

The driver was arrested and an unspecified number of bundles of marijuana were found in the car.

The Border Patrol did not describe the nature of the agents’ injuries or release the suspect’s name.
