"Don Julio,” an oil-on-canvas painting by Luis Preciado, will be part of the “Decadas” exhibit.

“Decadas,” an exhibit by local artist Luis Preciado, will go on display at La Linea art gallery starting with an opening event at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19.

The show will feature approximately 30 works that Preciado created in the 1980s and 1990s, but mostly in the 2000s, he said.

Preciado grew up in Nogales before leaving for college at the University of San Diego, where he graduated with a bachelor’s in fine arts and a minor in art history. He remained in that area until the mid-2000s, when he moved back to Southern Arizona.

Preciado worked primarily in acrylic paint in the 1980s and pencil in the 1990s. “It wasn’t until 2000 that I discovered oil painting and have been working in that medium since,” he says on his website, adding: “I love painting people and animals as well as still lifes.”

La Linea is at 32 Morley Avenue in downtown Nogales. Learn more about Preciado’s art at
