Summer art

Anna Allen, 9, focuses on her artwork at the Hilltop Gallery summer art program in July 2018.

Participants in this year’s Hilltop Gallery Summer Art Program will be asked to “just imagine” as they use a variety of techniques and materials to create art.

During the program, set to run July 1-26, program staff will get the class started, “then the imagination will take over,” the gallery said.

Classes will be held on the following Monday-Friday schedule:

• 9:30-10:45 a.m. for ages 5-7.

• 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for ages 8-10.

• 1-3 p.m. for ages 11-15.

Local professional artists will offer instruction, hints and tips.

The afternoon class for older kids will feature “three steps to becoming an artist,” including drawing shape and form, color experiments, and painting on canvas.

Registration costs $25 and is now underway at the City of Nogales Parks and Recreation Department on Hohokam Drive. For more information, call the Parks and Recreation Department at (520) 285-7582 or Hilltop Gallery at (520) 287-5515.
