Rio Rico High School graduation returned to Hawk Stadium last Thursday for the first time since before the pandemic. In his speech, Class of 2022 valedictorian Christopher Leyva noted the impact of COVID-19 and remote learning on the class. “When it comes down to it, we have had only two solid years of high school – our freshman year and senior year – for the most part,” he said. “But look where we are. We overcame these new experiences and struggles, and made it to out destination: graduation, tonight.”
In all, 323 students graduated from RRHS during a ceremony that culminated with a fireworks display and family members joining the grads on the field to celebrate the accomplishment. Photos by Jonathan Clark, except where noted by Angela Gervasi.
