Las Vigas closes its doors, but only temporarily
A longstanding Nogales restaurant caught a few community members by surprise when it closed its doors earlier this month.
But Las Vigas Steak Ranch owner Claudio Martinez said the restaurant will only remain closed for a few weeks.
“We’re remodeling – just the restrooms and adding some new stoves,” he told the NI on Jan. 17, explaining that the plans had been in the works since December.
Martinez added that Las Vigas, located on 180 W. Loma St., is expected to re-open some time in February.
The Las Vigas Food Truck that’s typically parked at the corner of Industrial Park Avenue and Industrial Park Drive will remain open on its regular schedule from Tuesday-Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The same is true for the truck that parks in front of Paco & Sons at Grand Avenue and 3rd Street.
Peace Rally on Saturday in Tubac
A peace rally in conjunction with the “No War with Iran” Global Day of Protest is scheduled for Saturday in Tubac.
Participants are asked to meet at the K. Newby Gallery gazebo at 115 Tubac Road at 2:45 p.m. They’ll then walk a loop around the village, for a total distance of less than one mile.
Organizers say signs are encouraged, though not with derogatory messages.
