The Santa Cruz County Health Services Department added 179 new cases of COVID-19 to its tally during the week that ended Thursday.

That’s an average of 25.6 cases per day during the seven-day period, well more than the approximately 10 new confirmed cases per day that the county saw in August, September and October.

The Health Services Department also counted two new COVID-related deaths and four hospitalizations during the week that ended Thursday.

Since the start of the pandemic, the department has reported 9,362 confirmed cases, 194 deaths and 625 hospitalizations.
