A wildfire in Sonora is filling local skies with smoke.
According to a Facebook post by the Nogales, Sonora Civil Protection Department, the fire has been burning for several days in the area of Rancho Bellotoso, approximately 10 miles south of the U.S.-Mexico border and west of Federal Highway 15.
Strong northerly winds have been fanning the fire and carrying the smoke into Santa Cruz County.
Personnel from the Nogales, Sonora Fire Department, National Forestry Commission and Mexican military are fighting the blaze, under the Civil Protection Department, the post said. It did not specify the size of the fire or the level of containment.
