For the second-straight week, the Nogales High School football team couldn’t get its offense going and fell 28-0 to Flowing Wells in the 2021 NHS Homecoming game on Friday.

The visiting Caballeros scored four rushing touchdowns – two in each half – while keeping Nogales out of their red zone. The Apaches’ best scoring chance came on a 46-yard field goal attempt with 9:53 to go in the first quarter, but the kick fell short.

The loss dropped Nogales’ record to 2-2. After opening the season with 16-0 and 24-3 wins over Rio Rico and Cholla, respectively, NHS fell to Gilbert 42-0 on Sept. 24 before losing Friday’s contest to Flowing Wells.

The Apaches next play at Desert View in Tucson on Oct. 7, then host Rincon/University at 7 p.m. on Oct. 15 in what will be both teams’ first game in 5A Conference Sonoran Region play.
