Demolition crews work on Friday, Sept. 20 to tear down the historic Walter Holm warehouse building on Grand Avenue.
The Nogales City Council agreed in April to waive demolition permit fees for the owner of the property, California-based seafood distributor Red Chamber. The council’s order estimated the cost of demolition at $300,000.
The 55,000-square-foot warehouse dates to the early 1900s. It previously housed the Holm family’s produce business. In 2016, Red Chamber demolished the south wing of the building after inspectors discovered that one of the walls had a large crack and had separated from the other walls.
